The Real Wool Shop – They’re more than just wool!

The Real Wool Shop in Carleton Place is located  at 142 Franktown Road. This unique boutique offers a combination of high quality wool and sheepskin products like clothing, blankets, footwear, gloves and more. The shop sells as many local products as possible, which adds to its charm and appeal.

The Real Wool Shop sell’s authentic moccasins and slippers from Quebec as well as sheepskin hats from Winnipeg to keep your ears and toes toasty this spring.  They  carry a diverse range of fashions from casual, to work wear and even party and wedding attire. The shop offers men’s and women’s fashions for all seasons – making them the perfect location to pick up anything you might need for a vacation as well.

The Wool shop attracts shoppers from across the province, “When people find out about us and come here, usually they’re hooked!” says sale associate Trish Brauer.

The Real Wool Shop is a retail division of the Canadian Co-operative Wool Growers Limited. The shop is attached to a warehouse where 3 million pounds of wool arrives each year before being shipped to buyers in other countries.

Celebrating more than 35 years in business, Brauer said she thinks the friendly, knowledgeable service is what makes the shop such a great success.

“We don’t rush people and we give good sincere advice,” she said. “People are appreciative of honest advice when buying fashion items!” she said with a laugh.

Brauer said most of their customers are a mature demographic but they offer something for all age groups – even slippers and onesies for babies and toddlers! To honour its regular crowd, the Real Wool Shop offers a seniors discount for customers above 60 years old on the first Tuesday of every month. On this day, there is no tax on regular priced fashion merchandise.

The Real Wool Shop always participates in Lambsdowne festival and the Bridge Street Summerfest and often organizes fashion shows to let people know about there shop! The shop also started a knitting class for anyone interested in learning how to knit with real Canadian wool!
