This role: The chamber is growing and we’re looking for someone who thrives in a busy environment and is looking to help the community grow. As a vital part of the Chamber team, the Membership and Events Co-ordinator is the primary lead in developing an annual events calendar to support our member businesses, growing and retaining membership at the Chamber, introducing businesses to the value of joining the organization, and building strong relations with current members. Other responsibilities include cultivating marketing materials and collateral to promote the chamber, creating an annual events schedule, coordinating events, securing chamber partnerships, and encouraging participation at Chamber events.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Organize and facilitate member events maximizing attendance, involvement, and revenue while creating learning and sharing opportunities and profile
- Works with Membership Committee to develop programs to build recruitment pipelines and board engagement
- Creates marketing material for distribution on the website and social media including but not limited to member profiles, event info, newsletters, and more
- Identifies opportunities for sponsorships, event venues, and partnership opportunities
- Works to recruit new members, focusing on the business needs via phone calls, in-person meetings, door knocking, and networking
- Manage all aspects of member onboarding to ensure members receive all the benefits and privileges associated with membership
- Develops and fosters ongoing relationships with Chamber members through strong relationships and the development of services. Visits currents members and encourages involvement
- Interacts daily with current and prospective members to consistently communicate the value of membership investment
- Creation and updating of assets that promote membership
- Promotion of Affinity and Member to Member programs to drive recruitment and renewals
- Maintain membership CRM to ensure all entries are up to date and track outreach calls and action items
- Interacts with visitors to the Chamber, including responding to phone calls and questions from the public and Chamber members
Your skills:
- Event management and/or sales experience
- Professional demeanor with the ability to sell a brand in a manner that motivates and inspires others
- Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, including public speaking
- Enthusiasm, good attitude, trustworthiness, personal integrity, and honesty
- Views every challenge as an opportunity and understands how to manage and overcome negative perceptions
- Ability to build trust and strong working relationships with leaders, co-workers, members, the business community, and other parties that affect Chamber operations
- Ability to work independently and autonomously with an understanding of when to involve others in decision making
- Detail-oriented, able to plan, prioritize and transition from tasks quickly and efficiently
- Good decision-making skills, judgment, and self-control
- Good comprehension skills with the ability to listen
- Self-motivated with a dedication to keeping up to date technically and applying new knowledge to your job
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of education or experience in Business, Event Management, or Communications
- 2+ years of customer service and/or sales experience
- Professional phone and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Canva or Adobe, social media platforms, Zoom, CRM programs, and video/photo editing an asset
- Experience working with volunteers
- Bilingualism an asset
