The Carleton Place & District Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit membership-based organization representing the interests of the local business community. This voluntary partnership of local business owners and professionals works collectively to build a healthy local economy and improve the quality of life in our community.

The Chamber works alongside the Ontario and Canadian Chambers to advocate for small businesses and provide them with the tools and resources they need to access programs and services. The Chamber also works to connect the local business to the community, provide educational and networking opportunities, and encourage local partnerships and collaborations.

Community Liason Position:

Job Description – Part-time (30 hrs a week/10weeks)
We are looking for a detail-oriented and passionate communications student who loves to embrace new challenges and works well with others. Your everyday work will have an impact on the local business community and help fuel their success. The successful candidate will be a creative and innovative thinker with the ability to assess the needs of individual companies quickly and effectively and help to deliver solutions. You should enjoy working with others and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.

What You’ll Do
Works one on one with members to access government programs and services that can benefit them
Write and edit marketing, communication collateral, and content
Support the planning and coordination of a variety of events and online learning opportunities
Support local business owners to connect them to Covid specific programs and services
Create compelling content for the Intranet and manage updates
Support photo and video shoots
Research grant opportunities

The Skill Set/Required
Enrolled in a college/university program related to Communications/Social Media
Detail-oriented, with strong research and organizational skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Flexibility and ability to juggle many projects and priorities simultaneously
Experience across social media platforms
Working knowledge of WordPress
Ability to learn new software quickly

Tourism Information Ambassador: Part-time(35 hrs a week/8 weeks – must be available to work weekends)

Job Description
We are looking for a Tourism, Social Media, or Photography student who likes to show off our community. You will have a passion for fun and you are a creative thinker who likes to jump outside the box. You enjoy working with others but are also effective when working alone. You can multi-task and always deliver 110% percent. You like to keep busy., are highly organized, and are always willing to go the extra mile.

What You’ll Do
Work one on one with the public to provide information and insight on local attractions, restaurants, and assets
Create new itineraries for locals and visitors to explore the community safely
Write/edit tourism related content for website and social media
Organize, clean and organize
Work online to update directories and databases
Outreach calls as required

The Skill Set Required
Strong oral and written communication skills
Exceptional knowledge of social media platforms
Creative and innovative thinker
Ability to work as a team and self-starter
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including excel
